Local businesses and the community help to fundraise £2,000.00 for four disabled hedgehog gardens!

We would like to say a huge thank you to some very generous and kind local businesses and communities for very kindly donating a total of £2,000.00 to create four new wild hedgehog gardens at Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary!

These gardens will be designed specifically for hedgehogs which have unfortunately become blind through old injuries or are vulnerable having missing limbs. These gardens will be permutant residency for at least four hedgehogs we are unable to release fully back in to the wild. They will be designed to give the hedgehogs as much of a wild life as possible with minimal human interference.

The total sum raised will be enough to pay for the materials needed for four of the total eight gardens we would like to build for the hedgehogs. You can see more information by following this post on what each of the gardens will look like: https://www.hornbeamwood.org.uk/post/looking-for-quotes-for-hedgehog-garden-work-based-in-harpenden-hertfordhsire-please-share

Hedgehog Garden

This is a huge achievement and I'm so excited to be able to to get started on this project. We will not have enough money to pay for labour costs but we have been very kindly approached by The Wheathampstead District Preservation Society volunteers who will be lending us a hand in the construction of these gardens.

We anticipate work to begin a couple of months from now but it may be towards next year weather dependant.

A special thanks to the following local businesses and community members for very kindly raising the funds for this project.

  • Pauline Anderson very kindly gifted a total of £500 given in memory of her mother Mrs Joan Anderson.

Thank you so much for all your support, this project will make a huge difference for the hedgehogs, they will be so pleased :)
