I have just purchased a second hand Apple Mac desktop for Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary. We have had a long wait for this! Most electronic devices I have been using for the charity are actually my own devices. I rarely buy things like this for the Charity as I don't mind using my own stuff for the hedgehogs. I have been using my own devices since 2015 and they are also old now. Given we now have a brand new Microscope and I will not be the only person using this for the hedgehogs, it is time for the hogs to have their own computer.
This computer will eventually have everything relating to hedgehog activities loaded on to it including Hedgehog Health records, photos, calendar, emails, website editing packages, document software, spreadsheets, etc... Basically all hedgehog things that are digital! The computer has a huge screen and an all in one unit so no separate monitor/desktop. It's not new but perfectly fine for what we need it for.
I have also purchased a second hand iPhone dedicated for hedgehog rescue calls and other on the road hedgehog activities. I had been using my personal phone but hedgehog rescue calls have increased substantially this year, so it's also time to have a dedicated hog phone. This will also allow me to give the phone to another volunteer when I am unable to attend it, such as going on a holiday (which has not happened since 2015, but I'm hoping I might be able to take a week off this year). I've also brought an extra battery case for it as I know it won't last long with it's own battery going from how long I'm on the phone each day!
I'd like to thank everyone who visited us at Childwickbury Christmas Market, Harpenden Christmas Carnival, and all those who help support us and the hedgehogs :D I'm only able to buy items like this because of your support and they will be a valuable assets to Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary.
